The Hospice of St. Francis
Actopia is proud to partner with The Hospice of St. Francis, a charity in Berkhamsted that provides professional support and care for people with life-shortening illness. The organisation brings peace, comfort and dignity to people and helps them live life to the full, for whatever time is left. It provides care tailored to each patient’s individual needs and works closely with them to support their choices. Care is given at the Hospice or in the patient’s home. The hospice’s team also provides outreach care in local hospitals and nursing homes.
St Mary’s Christmas Lunch
Each year, St. Mary’s Church in Aylesbury puts on a festive event on Christmas Day which is open to all, not dependant on age or religious belief. It is perhaps the most important time of year to feel welcome and at home, and we believe it is of particular help to disadvantaged families and members in society who can feel especially alone and vulnerable. Actopia has sponsored St Mary’s Free Christmas Lunch for the past few years under its local brand, Active Technology.
Young Enterprise
Company founder and former director, Darran Hamer, was for several years either a tutor or a mentor for Young Enterprise in Aylesbury, attending classes, helping companies in the annual competitions and helping young people prepare for the world of business, and life in general. Giving valuable time, insight and advice to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Work experience
From time to time, Actopia has taken on pupils from local schools to shadow its staff and learn about what we do and how we do it, and how to apply that later in life upon leaving education. Pupils are treated as equals and are given opportunities to show initiative and take part in the day-to-day running of the company.
Further charity
Not an exhaustive list, but Actopia continues to donate to various charitable causes such as Shine, Trewan Sands Children’s Trust, Cancer Research UK, Oxfordshire Community & Voluntary Action (OCVA), Hillside Aylesbury, clients’ fundraising, and we have preferential rates for registered charities who buy our products and services.
WEEE and recycling
Wherever possible, Actopia makes an effort to securely and responsibly dispose or recycle hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste electrical & electronic equipment.
